Do you ever have that voice in the back of your mind that tells you you're not good enough?
Does it sometimes hold you back from trying new things?
That's called your negative self.
It's your biggest enemy sometimes.
For example, it might not let you think as big as you want to because it's so afraid of you failing that it prevents you from even trying.
By understanding how your negative self works and functions, you'll be able to take control of it and not let it control you.
As a human, your brain functions in a way for you to stay in survival mode 24-7.
Basically, your brain just wants to take the easy path and allow you to survive so that way you don't die.
Think of it as like back when we were cavemen. You always had to be aware of your surrounding because of potential predators that could kill you.
Therefore, this is still a very natural way of thinking because the brain just wants you to survive.
So, when you're faced with a dilemma, such as you trying to chase your goals, go for something bigger than you ever thought you could... Your brain holds you back because it knows that life will have to change and get uncomfortable.
It could potentially put you in a different situation than you're currently in because your brain naturally wants to keep you in the comfort zone.
I'm writing this lesson out of experience because I've struggled with this for many years.
Once I learned that the negative self-talk isn't necessarily a form of sabotaging or self-harm... It's more in the sense of just your mind wanting to keep you in the comfort zone because it's the best chances of survival.
It makes it a lot easier dealing with the negative self-talk and kind of pushing it to the side.
This is where meditation comes in.
If you practice 10 minutes of meditation and allow yourself to not think.
And once those negative thoughts come into your mind... You're able to put them off to the side and not pay attention to them.
That allows you to take action and get closer to your end goal.
This takes time in order for it to become a natural reflex for you to not let the negative self-talk thoughts get to you.
Because that's what they are at the end of the day. It's just a thought.
These thoughts are not absolute. They don't mean anything.
They're simply just your mind trying to stay in the comfort zone.
Eventually, you will reach a new comfort zone.
And then you will have to deal with the same exact thing once you're in that comfort zone and you want to keep expanding.
