“The only difference between a rich person and poor person is how they use their time.” – Robert Kiyosaki
It’s important to note that this post is to help plant the seed into your subconscious.
It’s not to make you feel inferior or feel less of any kind.
The purpose of this entry is to help show you what it truly means to unlearn the 9 to 5 mindset.
It’s to help you change your perspective in order for you to reach for higher goals and a better future self.
The 9 to 5 mindset or also known as the rat race, the matrix, the hamster wheel, aka systemic mindset; is a concept that has gained popularity throughout the 21st century due to online content creators.
But in my opinion, very few actually help convince people why it’s not the proper way of living.
Too many people get sucked into the “ra-ra” hype fests online and never take action, or they do, but get trapped into some MLM pyramid scheme, or get scammed by the dude online that said they would get them out of the Matrix.
Self-Reliant is designed to give you the knowledge and perspective shifts for you to begin asking yourself the right questions which will ultimately help you make the right decisions.
By compounding the right decisions over a period of a couple years, you’ll find yourself living a completely different lifestyle than you would imagine when your mind was trapped in the 9 to 5 way of thinking.
For example, I can only speak from my personal experience…
My entire life I never once thought about my life after college.
Never did I ask myself “How do I want to live on a day to day basis?”
The only thing I ever thought about was getting a “degree” (I put that in quotes because I had no idea what degree I wanted to get at the time) and then using that to apply for a job to make lets say $50k, maybe $75k a year.
I thought making that much money was decent, but sadly, it’s what I thought I was worth.
I thought that’s what everyone makes that doesn’t go for intense degrees like becoming a lawyer or doctor. Or if you made $100k a year you were some really smart engineer or something.
If you can read between the lines there, the problem was that I didn’t believe I could make more.
I was always told that I needed to go to college in order to “make-it” in the real world. It was the only way to get a job and pay for my bills.
This mindset I had was a very limiting mindset, and maybe some of you reading this, either shares or shared the same mindset.
If you’re reading this, it’s because you want to change and adapt for the better and I commend you for that. Keep going.
You can probably see how debilitating this way of thinking is.
The positive side of things, in my opinion is once you open your mind to the alternative way of thinking, you can’t really go back…
Something that helped me, was being aware that our parents, and their parents, only knew one way of thinking.
They were raised by their parents to go to college, get a degree, get a mortgage, and work until you paid off your mortgage and hopefully you made smart decisions and didn’t blow your savings on stupid sh*t.
It’s a life of constantly working and hoping you’ll have enough for retirement.
Not blaming anyone, it's just the facts of how the system was passed down from generation to generation...
But what if there’s an alternative way of living?
What if you’re someone that honestly hates going to work or working every single day for a pay check?
What if you’re someone that’s starting to believe that you deserve more?
I’m not talking about a person that simply thinks they deserve $100k right after graduating or deserves the respect even thought they haven’t put the work into anything…
This entry is for those that want to get after it.
It’s for the people that want to learn a new skillset and use that to take control of their life and finances.
It’s for the people that want to follow their passion and use that to fuel their lifestyle.
It’s for the people that can envision exactly how they want to live day to day.
It’s not for the faint at heart.
It’s for the people that will keep going even though everyone around them wants to pull them down.
This doesn’t mean that you should quit your job and just try to go for the fences.
If you have a job that you hate, but it’s paying the bills, I suggest you to begin your self-reliant journey and getting started while you’re still working.
Think of it this way, you’re sacrificing now in order for your future self to live a better life.
You working now, does not make you any less of a person.
Take it from me, I suggest you to not quit your job that’s paying your bills. I quit my job prematurely and it set me back because I wasn’t able to pay my bills on time.
Causing way more stress than I needed at the time.
You unlearning the 9 to 5 mindset and believing that you deserve more is the first step.
The 2nd step is you beginning your Self-Reliant journey and changing your perspective and mindset so you can go ahead and get started on your path to a better life.
Work on yourself while you’re still hustling.
The Self-Reliant Digital Textbook will give you ques for when you’re ready to leave your position and become fully Self-Reliant.
For example, while I was working as a CNA at the hospital, during my 12 hour shifts when I had a ton of down time, I would research everything I could about mindset and digital marketing.
I took notes, read, and even worked on setting up my business assets all while on shift.
I recommend you do the same.
Unfortunately, at that time, I didn’t have a one stop shop for all of my beginner entrepreneurship needs.
That’s where Self-Reliant comes into play for you.
Don’t give up on yourself.
If you’re grinding it out in a job that you hate, just know this is temporary.
This is not your forever because now you know there’s an alternative life you can live.
It just takes some discipline and some know how and you’ll be on your way to living your ideal life.
Don’t stop. Keep going.
Never give up.
